I love hole in the wall restaurants. And from my visit to Tokyo… Hole in the wall restos are usually the best. Kikufuji has apparently been around for many years, known for their fresh sushi, and sashimi, I would say they have the best authentic Japanese food in the Little Tokyo area in Makati. It’s always a good sign to see a lot of Japanese people when you enter a Japanese restaurant, and the place was full of ’em. The Sushi bar is like a little stage in the middle of the resto, and you see the chefs meticulously preparing the food. Another Japanese chef was preparing skewers off on the side (I didn’t know there was an art to cooking Japanese skewers, its not as simple as just grilling it). Kikufuji was truly a gastronomic treat especially for a Japanese food lover like me and the prices were quite reasonable too! Ranging from 200 to 500. I saw their lunch menu and I can’t wait to try it when I come back next time.
See pictures below and imagine the salmon sahimi melt in your mouth…so yummy!
Here’s a little bit of personal trivia. I actually never used to eat sushi and sashimi until I started dating GP. He sorta opened my palette to Japanese food when we had one of our first few dates at Seryna (which is also another great resto in Little Tokyo) and it turned my world upside down. now I just love Japanese food =)
Kani Salad
Spicy Tuna
Pork and Chicken Skewers
Right beside Kukufuji you’ll see this grocery store! Go inside! They have a lot of interesting things that you can buy.
My favorite!!
They also had canned goods!
I bought this. Haven’t tried it…But i might just right after posting this! Haha
Kikufuji is located along Pasong Tamo beside Makati Cinema Square in the Little Tokyo area.

Little Tokyo is just few mins from my place but till now haven’t got the chance to visit it, heard lot of good feedback bout them. How much would you think a budget for a decent dinner in that place? Thanks again :)
Hey Dholls, maybe 1,500 to be safe :)
Hi Andi! Love everything about your blog from fine dining to fashion. God bless♥
Awwww i wish i had more fashion :P
Andi! When are you going to visit San Francisco?
July 16-20 :)
Don’t you think you may like to take video clips, too, then at the same time taking still pictures.? Suggest, Nikon 1 is a good camera to start with. iMovie is a good app for editing video and for adding music background. Happy trip and pleasant travel. And keep a memorable journey.
I just might soon :) Its just that the editing part takes so much time :P
BTW, you take superb pictures…I like your Leica camera. You and your Leica are meant for each other!
The japanese store is the place to be. If you want to buy japanese items and ingredients, this is one of the cheapest place to shop.
Hi Andi,
I never liked eating sushi in the phils because I’ve never been to a japanese that serve good sushi.
Now you make me want to try Kikufuji the next time I’m in the Phils. Where exactly is this little tokyo?
Any special landmarks? I will try looking for the place.
